Cathi C. Stegall, MSW, LCSW
Mental Wellness Provider, Co-Founder, Chief Clinical Officer
Cathi provides individual and couple's therapy in Medford, Oregon and surrounding areas. Specializing in relationship therapy and utilizing significant training and experience to provide a evidence-based approach to treating couples seeking improvements in communication or connection as well as couples in severe distress.
As a couple, perhaps you know your relationship could be stronger, healthier, better and are looking for strategies to improve your relationship before more serious problems arise. Or perhaps your relationship with your significant other feels "stuck", you are no longer talking with each other as you once had, you are arguing more often, feeling detached, and cannot see how or when things will improve. Treatment includes methods for partners to feel heard, understood, and eventually prompt direct improvements in communication, problem solving and building resiliency in your relationship.
As an individual, you may find that your racing thoughts hit you where it hurts most, often affecting quality of sleep, which can then lead to making you feel "on edge", irritable, or "moody", having difficulty concentrating, facing relationship challenges, communication difficulties, hopelessness, or helplessness. Daily stressors that build upon chronic stress can increase anxiety and depression symptoms, reduce energy and motivation, and ultimately stand in the way of developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and healthy relationships. Cathi uses evidence-based practices that target both thoughts and behaviors to better manage stress, improve relationships, and cultivate a healthy lifestyle.
Cathi received her Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Counseling from Clarks Summit University and her Masters of Social Work degree from Cleveland State University; she is professionally trained in Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy, an empirically supported treatment for couples, under the tutelage of co-founder, researcher, and theorist, Dr. Andrew Christensen. Cathi has received Gottman Method (L2) Couples Therapy training. Additional theoretical underpinnings utilized in therapy include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Based Mindfulness Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Therapy, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.
Careful study in mental wellness throughout her academic and professional career and thorough experience in mental health assessment and treatment brought Cathi to the realization that the current climate of limited resources for assessment and therapy was something that can be controlled and improved. In order to address this need, Cathi has chosen to take her license to practice independently along with her years of experience as a psychiatric social worker and primary care mental health consultant and bring it into the Medford community as a resource for local mental health prescribers, who are looking to expand their clinical approach. These prescribers are doing a good work in our communities - Wellness Lab and Clinics was built to help improve this good work and increase the access of services for people looking to improve their lives, address their needs, and find their way.
Individuals and couples in Medford, Central Point, Ashland and surrounding areas can use the secure client portal to contact Cathi confidentially as well as access convenient online scheduling.
